The biggest difference is the level. B1 stands for independent communication in everyday life, B2 for a higher level at which you handle more complex and abstract topics confidently. That affects every part:
- Writing: at B1 you write a short message of around 80 words, at B2 a formal email of at least 150 words.
- Language elements: at B2 it is about more demanding structures such as nominal style, the passive and more complex connections.
- Oral exam: at B1 you describe a picture and plan something together, at B2 you give a presentation and hold a discussion.
