Assured phrases give you support in the oral exam. Whoever has a few good phrases ready does not have to search for words for long and immediately seems more fluent. Here are the most important ones, organised by function.

You can memorise them by their job:
- Expressing an opinion: “meiner Meinung nach …”, “ich finde, dass …”.
- Agreeing or disagreeing: “da stimme ich dir zu”, “das sehe ich anders, weil …”.
- Making suggestions: “ich schlage vor, dass …”, “wie wäre es, wenn …”.
- Presenting: “ich möchte über … sprechen”, “zusammenfassend …”.
- Asking back: “könntest du das genauer erklären?”, “wie meinst du das?”.

How to use them
Do not memorise the phrases stiffly, but build them in casually. They are especially useful in the presentation and in the discussion. Fixed phrases also give you support against speaking anxiety.
